Terrific Friends and Great Pets
What makes miniature schnauzers the perfect pet? There are many answers to this, but, simply, but the love you unconditionally and they’re wicked smart and they like lounging and sleeping and being themselves.
The wicked smart is the coolest part. While each dog has their own unique quirks, they all seem capable of learning a lot of tasks and tricks. We encourage new owners to enroll in a puppy kindergarten class, if they haven’t trained a dog before. These classes will typically provide invaluable information and skills new owners can use to train their puppers to be the best.
We have found that starting early is essential to a well behaved schnauzer. We use treat-based clicker training. Tasks all dogs should know include watch me, sit, down, stay, wait, come, take it, drop it, out, leave it, crate, and no. This list isn’t exhaustive. But communicating with your dog is the important part of the equation.
